US President-elect Joe Biden has nominated for the first time in US history a trans official , Dr. Rachel Levine, to be named Assistant Secretary of the Department of Health.

According to the international news agency, Joe Biden is scheduled to take the oath on January 20, but he is busy forming his team in various fields.

Dr. Rachel Levine is a proclaimed transgender person and is currently serving as Secretary of Health in Pennsylvania. The newly elected President has now nominated for the post of Assistant Secretary in the Department of Health and the Department of Human Services in recognition of his services.

A graduate of Harvard College, Dr. Rachel Levine is currently a professor at Penn State College of Medicine. She began her medical career as a pediatrician. Joe Biden’s nomination for the key post is yet to be ratified by the Senate.
