Federal Minister for Finance, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, while instructing the four provincial governments, said that steps should be taken to continuously monitor sugar stocks, market supply situation and prices for consumers across the country.

The Finance Minister directed the provincial governments to take necessary steps to ensure the supply of basic commodities at affordable prices. In addition, the Federal Minister of Finance directed the Federal Bureau of Statistics to provide necessary assistance to the provinces to monitor the prices of essential commodities and to activate the system of bridging the price gap.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh. During the meeting, the committee reviewed the prices of wheat, sugar and other essential commodities including edible oil.
