Petrol price is likely to increase by Rs 5

ISLAMABAD ( REPORTBEAT ): Petrol price is likely to increase by Rs 5 from tomorrow.

Prices of petroleum products are likely to go up by up to Rs6. The decision to increase prices will be taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan in consultation with the Finance Ministry.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has sent a summary of changes in prices of petroleum products to the Petroleum Division. According to sources, based on the current levy, petrol can cost up to Rs 5.5 and diesel is likely to increase by up to Rs 6.5.

At present, the current rate of levy on petrol is Rs 12, 65 paise per liter and the current rate of levy on diesel is Rs 12, 53 paise per liter. The final decision on the OGRA summary will be taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan in consultation with the Finance Ministry. It should be noted that the federal government has the power to impose petroleum levy on all petroleum products up to Rs 30 per liter.
