Opposition’s outcry over ensuring transparency in Senate elections is beyond comprehension, says Shibli Faraz.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Shibli Faraz has said that by opposing the open ballot, the opposition has made it clear that they do not want to end the politics of money in politics.

Tweeting on social networking site Twitter, Senator Shibli Faraz added that it was unreasonable for the opposition to shout at the move to ensure transparency in the Senate elections.

It may be recalled that the government wants to hold the Senate elections through open ballot for which a draft constitutional amendment was also tabled in the National Assembly three days ago. Besides, the reference sent by the President is also pending in the Supreme Court. Following the failure of the National Assembly to pass a constitutional amendment, a presidential ordinance was issued in this regard yesterday, but its application is subject to the opinion of the Supreme Court.
