Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday has said that only developed and progressed society can improve its infrastructure and economy.
While addressing a ceremony after inaugurating upgradation work of Peshawar-Dara Adamkhel road and laying the foundation stone of Chitral-Shandur road in Peshawar, the premier said that today, we have begun construction process of two important roads in the metropolis.
If the roads are being made through proper planning, they will benefit the country, he stated.
The PM also expressed the commitment to bring revolution in tourism, forestry and the agriculture sectors to take forward the country. Swat Expressway has changed the region and people are now visiting the area even during the winter season, he said.
Imran Khan said he has been approached by overseas Pakistanis who are interested to establish skiing slopes in the northern areas. He was confident that this region will be thronged by the tourists for trekking in the summer season and for skiing in the winter.
Earlier in the day, the PM, while speaking at an event after laying foundation stone of Jalozai Housing Scheme for low-income people in Nowshera, said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) believes in ensuring equal law for everyone. The influential segment of the society does not want to be held accountable, he added.
Imran Khan said Naya Pakistan Housing Program has been launched across the country so that the under privileged class of the society including laborers and workers could also own their houses.
The PM said on the one hand, we are constructing houses and flats on the government land to provide low cost units to the people. For this scheme, we have registered the people and providing a subsidy of three hundred thousand rupees on each housing unit, he went on to say.
He said separately, the banks are providing loans on easy installments so that the people could build their own houses.
Imran Khan said compassion for the poor as well as rule of law was the basic philosophy of the State of Madina, the foundation of which was laid by our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wa Sallam Khatim un Nabiyeen.
The PM said our aim is to provide protection to the poor segments of the society. He pointed out that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the first province which has provided health cards to each household, under which they can get medical treatment worth one million rupees annually.
He premier this will trigger a revolution in the health sector and encourage the private sector to establish hospitals and health care facilities. He also expressed the commitment to further widen the network of Panagahs and that of Koi Bhooka Na Soye Scheme.
