Bowing down to the pressure of international community, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to chair a meeting with all political parties from occupied Kashmir to discuss restoration of Valley’s special status.
According to Indian media reports, the Modi government has summoned a meeting with all political parties from occupied Kashmir and is the restoration of state status of the Occupied Territories may also be discussed in the meeting.
The meeting — the first such exercise since the Centre announced the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir s special status and its bifurcation into union territories in August 2019 — is likely to be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other central leaders.
The Indian central leadership has begun the process of inviting occupied Kashmir leadership including Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Altaf Bukhari and Sajjad Lone for the discussion.
“An intimation has been sent to us. We don t know exactly what it is about yet but will wait for a formal invitation and then take a call”, said occupied Kashmir leadership.
Mehbooba Mufti said that she did “receive an informal invite and they were discussing it”.
