In India, children were given sanitizers instead of polio vaccines.

In the Ghatanji district of the Indian state of Maharashtra, medical staff administered hand sanitizer drops to children instead of polio vaccine drops, which worsened the condition of dozens of children, while at least 12 of them had to be hospitalized.

The incident of negligence on the part of the medical staff took place on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Kapsi Kopari village of Ghatanji district where more than 2,000 children were being vaccinated against polio at a local medical center.

Meanwhile, three officials started giving two drops of hand sanitizer to the children instead of two drops of polio vaccine.

All the children who received hand sanitizer drops instead of the polio vaccine began to deteriorate and vomited, after which they were rushed to a local government hospital.
