The Election Commission of Pakistan has suspended the membership of 154 members of parliament, including federal ministers.
The Election Commission has suspended the membership of 154 members for not submitting their financial statements. The suspended members include Federal Ministers Ali Zaidi, Fawad Chaudhry, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Dr Fehmida Mirza and Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, while three senators Musaddiq Malik, Kamran Michael and Shamim Afridi are also among those whose membership has been suspended.
According to the Election Commission, 48 members of the National Assembly and 26 members of the KP Assembly have been suspended, while six members of the Balochistan Assembly have been suspended, including Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind and Akhtar Lango.
The Election Commission has informed the Speakers of the Senate, National and Provincial Assemblies about the decision and said that the suspended members cannot participate in the proceedings of the House and the membership will remain suspended till the submission of returns.
