KARACHI( REPORTBEAT ) Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Information Secretary Shazia Murree has accused the Election Commission of Pakistan of being a facilitator of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
Shazia Murree claimed that the Election Commission refused the PPP and extended the time for submission of nomination papers at the request of the PTI.
On the other hand, former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, a unanimous candidate in the Senate election of the anti-government opposition Ittehad Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), said that he had never believed in horse trading and people would vote according to their conscience.
Talking to media representatives of the Election Commission, Yousuf Raza Gilani said, “I don’t know who I am fighting against. I was the only unanimous candidate in history, then I got 264 votes.” The opposition gave me a vote of confidence.
Replying to a question, Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Azam Swati was not taken seriously as he was not the spokesperson of PDM.
It may be recalled that the special feature of the nomination papers of the unanimous candidate of PDM, Yousuf Raza Gilani, is that his proposers and supporters include two former prime ministers.
