China has threat at banning US officials in Taiwan for “disgusting behavior” and said it would pay a heavy price if the United States did not back down.
Responding to a question at the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s daily news briefing, Hua Chenying said China was sticking to its promise that the United States would have to pay a “heavy price” if it did not refrain from intervening in Taiwan. Therefore, China will impose sanctions on some US officials.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry’s statement came after the lifting of a ban on the exchange of US delegations with Taiwan. Also last week, US Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft telephoned Taiwan’s President Tsai Ingwen after a scheduled visit to Taipei.
China has made it clear on several occasions that Taiwan is a very sensitive and important issue for it, so some time ago China imposed sanctions on US companies selling arms to Taiwan.
