Blackout: After a major breakdown, the power being gradually restored in the cities of Pakistan

The restoration works are in progress after the failure of the major power breakdown plunged the entire country into darkness late Saturday, the Federal Minister of Energy Omar Ayub Khan said in a statement at the beginning of Sunday.

The blackout hit all major cities of Pakistan, including the capital Islamabad, economic hub Karachi and the second-largest city Lahore.The power failure occurred a few minutes before midnight across the country, with citizens taking social media to report faults. As the faults strike big cities, mobile and Internet services have also been affected.

The Minister of Energy stated that the distribution of the power occurred when the frequency of the national energy distribution system (NTDC) is suddenly reached by 50 to zero, adding that the question was in investigation and that Attempts were taken to restart the Tarbela plant and restore the offer.
